PANIC CONTROL WHEN CRAVING A CIGARETTE:
Pursed lip breathing is done
to help one breathe easier and to control panic. The key is to blow out through slightly closed lips.
Some recommend
breathing in through your nose while you "smell the roses" and breathe out through pursed lips "to blow out the candles".
Breathing out should take at least twice as long as breathing in. Helpful procedure but will not cure the evils
of smoking.

A few moaners to start
your day! LOLOLOLOLO
Ma & Pa were on the porch & Pa said, " You know, Ma, I'd sure like a big bowl
of ice cream."
"OK, Pa", she said, as she shuffled off toward the kitchen.
"Write it down," he said, "...you'll
forget" "Oh, Pa, don't be silly"
"Write it down" he said, "cause I want some chocolate syrup on it.", he insisted.
"Ice cream..with chocolate syrup" she said, as she walked into the kitchen.
10, 15, 20 minutes passed
and finally Ma came out & handed Pa a big bowl of oatmeal.
"See, Ma, what'd I tell you...you forgot the toast.
Three older ladies were discussing the travails of getting older.
One said, "Sometimes I catch
myself with a jar of mayonnaise in my
hand in front of the refrigerator and can't remember whether I need
to
put it away, or start making a sandwich." The second lady chimed
in, "Yes, some times I find myself on the landing
of the stairs and
can't remember whether I was on my way up or on my way down." The
third one responded,
" Well, I'm glad I don't have that problem;
knock on wood," as she rapped her knuckles on the table, then told
them
"
That must be the door, I'll get it!"
A man is sitting at home one evening when the doorbell
rings. When he answers the door, a 6 foot tall cockroach is standing there. The cockroach punches him between the eyes and
takes off. The next evening, the man is sitting at home when again, the doorbell rings. He answers the door, the cockroach
is there again. This time, it punches him, kicks him and karate chops him and runs away. The third evening, the man is sitting
at home when the doorbell rings.
He stupidly opens the door, and surprise! The cockroach is there yet again. It
knocks him down, leaps on him and stabs him several times before making off. The gravely injured man manages to crawl to the
telephone and dial 911 before passing out. The next morning, the doctor is doing his rounds. He asks our hero what happened,
so the man explains about the 6 foot cockroach's vicious attacks, culminating in the near fatal stabbing. The doctor nods
with deep compassion, thinks for a moment and says,
"Yes, there is a nasty bug going around."
Okay,
okay....I'll stop!

The caregiver is a very special person in the COPD patient's life. Whether a family member, spouse, significant
other, or an individual paid for their services, they are the lifeline to daily existence. For the patient, it is misery to
be out of breath when nothing seems to help. For the caregiver, it is pure hell when these types of things happen and that
helpless feeling comes upon you...but that is when the caregiver gives the most..... with a soft word or a loving hug.

woke up this morning and the sun was shiny and bright,
Everything seemed to be all right.
I looked
for my oxygen tank and it wasn't there,
Who is playing games with my health here?
I stood up straight,
looking for the one who is doing this thing.
Suddenly, I was able to stand up straight! My heart began to sing.
I
could breathe...and nothing seemed amiss.
What the hell is this?
When I looked in the mirror, I saw
a young face,
Am I in the right place?
Walked slowly to the next room,
everything seemed
so strange.
Then, took a deep breath...and I could BREATHE!
Wondering...can this really be ME?
Have
I lost my COPD?
Then I woke up...it was only a dream!
Do dreams come true...well maybe they do!
So
I am sending my Dream to All of you!

I had one wish I know what it would surely be
That I could breath like I did when I was seventeen.
We
don't appreciate what we have until something goes wrong
I know I didn't until my breathing was almost gone.
I
smoked those cigarettes like there was no tomorrow
Now I live with the consequence and all the sorrow.
Those
cigarettes I didn't think I could live without
If I only knew what those cigarettes were all about.
Now
I need oxygen both day and night
I also have these breathing spells that are such a fright.
I see my friends
that are so healthy and strong
But my health has been bad for so very long.
I get so depressed sometimes
I don't know what to do
I want to get out of this chair and do things just like you.
I just take it day
by day
Only thing I can do with my breathing this way.
I talk to the good LORD from time to time
I
tell him just what's on my mind.
I ask him to please not let me suffer and forgive me for all my sins
To
please take me to heaven when my life ends.
